    About the Role

As a Junior Braider at Honey Bel Hair, you are in a growth role. You already have the fundamentals — clean cornrows, basic protective styles, and a passion for the craft. What you need is mentorship, volume, and a place to sharpen your skills. You will work side-by-side with our Master Braiders, take on entry-level services, assist during complex installs, and gradually build your own clientele. We invest in your development through structured mentorship, technique training, and real client experience. This is not just a job — it is a pathway to becoming a Master Braider with a full book and a loyal following.

    Schedule

    Monday–Saturday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Part-time: 3–4 days per week including Saturdays.

    Compensation

Commission-based: 35–40% on services plus 100% of tips. Earnings increase as you take on more advanced services and build your clientele.

    What You'll Do

    • Perform entry-level braiding services including cornrows, simple knotless braids, and basic protective styles to Honey Bel Hair standards
    • Assist Master Braiders with service prep: parting, sectioning, hair prep, and take-downs
    • Manage client flow: greet clients, ensure comfort during long services, and provide aftercare guidance
    • Learn and practice advanced techniques (stitch braids, boho braids, twists, feed-ins) through hands-on mentorship
    • Shadow Master Braiders during consultations to develop client communication and recommendation skills
    • Maintain station cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the day
    • Build your personal clientele with marketing support from the salon (social media features, referral programs)
    • Track your progress through regular skill assessments and feedback sessions with the salon lead

    What We're Looking For

    • 1+ year of braiding experience (formal salon, informal/home-based, or self-taught with a portfolio)
    • Solid foundation in cornrows and at least one additional braiding style (knotless, box braids, or twists)
    • Portfolio or photos demonstrating your current skill level
    • Eagerness to learn, accept constructive feedback, and implement corrections
    • Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct
    • Available to work Saturdays and at least 2–3 weekdays

    Nice to Have

    • Cosmetology or braiding license (or actively pursuing one)
    • Experience working in a salon environment
    • Social media presence showcasing your braiding work
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
